Agile Systems' DPDLite drive with sensorless motor commutation system for brushless dc motors offers simplified control and improved performance when compared to servomotors with traditional hall-effect feedback. Available from LG Motion, the compact single board design can be mounted either inside the motor housing or separately to provide two-wire power connection with full PID closed loop torque and velocity control.
Using Agile's innovative algorithm, based on motor phase inductance measurement that allows the motor to start unidirectionally without start-up delay, the DPDLite detects rotor position from stand still through its speed range for control of fans, pumps, compressors, centriguges and other speed and torque based applications.
With higher efficiency and high power-to-size ratio, brushless DC motors are increasingly replacing traditional single- and three-phase AC motor technologies in non-servo applications. The DPDLite’s sensorless commutation system offers advantages over hall based motors in terms of increased reliability and performance with reduced motor and wiring costs.
DPDLite drives are available for motor voltages between 12 and 30 VDC with continuous current ratings to 18A and peak ratings to 30 A. Full over/under voltage, current limit and over temperature protection is included and the drive features digital inputs for direction and torque/velocity selector and a 0 to 5 VDC analogue control input.
Application set-up is via DP-D software which handles motor and I/O set-up, with configuration, full diagnostics and help system. Used in conjunction with Agiles’ DP-Win™ tuning tools and graphical analysis software, DP-D speeds motor commissioning and installation via RS232 connection to the drive.
