Touchscreen technology is familiar to everyone that uses bank ATMs, but the latest Magelis HMI from Telemacanique, a brand of Schneider Electric, is claimed to be the smallest industrial colour touchscreen ever. Measuring just 3.8 inches, the unit is easy to read, thanks to its high-legibility QVGA (320 x 240 pixel) screen. The function keys on screen are large enough for even gloved hands and the screen displays text, from seven rows of ten characters up to 30 rows of 40 characters, as well as graphics with eight tonal levels.
The Magelis XBTGT features not only a touchscreen but also six function keys built into the fascia. Users can, therefore, combine the intuitive user-friendliness of the touch-screen with the convenience of robust function keys for accessing frequently used options.
High-end HMI functions, including recipe management, data logging, historical trending and alarm management, can now be implemented easily and inexpensively with this new HMI.
The Magelis XBTGT is, for a limited period, available as a starter pack, providing users with even greater savings. In addition to the XBTGT terminal itself, this pack also includes programming software and connecting cables at no extra charge.
