Bollhoff Fastenings has introduced a range of blind rivet nuts with stronger threads that achieve higher joint tension in structural applications, where tightening torque values in excess of 54kNm are required. The RivNut HRT also offers reduced weight and dimensions, compared with an alternative nut and bolt fastening.In a typical 35kNm joint, for example, a grade 8.8 bolt and corresponding nut can be replaced by an M8 RivNut HRT and mating 12.9 grade screw. Moreover, replacing a hexagonal M6 nut with a RivNut HRT compatible with a grade 8.8 screw, can achieve a weight reduction of 63%. The new fastener is available in steel from M6 to M12 (screw grades 10.9 or 12.9) and in aluminium M6 and M8 (8.8 screw grade).
