Power connector meets OBSAI mobile base-station requirements

The new har-bus(r) HM Power connector from HARTING complements the company's HM Signal range of 2 mm signal connectors, and is designed to provide a reliable and cost-effective solution for connecting plug-in units to backplanes in telecommunications applications.

The new connector, which can carry up to 23 A per contact at 70°C, meets OBSAI (Open Base Station Architecture Initiative) specifications, so that the connector solution available from the HARTING technology group offers full compatibility and intermateability with a wide range of base-station modules.

The right-angle male connector for use on daughter cards can be supplied with either press-fit or PIHR (pin-in-hole reflow) contacts. The compact high-temperature moulding can be loaded with up to four high current contacts, while four different contact mating lengths enable sequenced and non-sequenced loadings such as GND and ENA as specified by OBSAI. The straight female connector for backplanes is fitted with press-in contacts.

The footprint of the individual contact on the backplane is symmetrical. For boards with a thickness of at least 8 mm, the connector can be pressed in from both sides using the same holes to save additional space on the board.
