Danfoss powers ahead with new 690V drives range.

Following the introduction of its new High Power range of drives to the market in 2005, Danfoss has now launched the market’s most compact range of 690v drives up to 630kW. Their size advantage is emphasised when optional fusing and disconnects are adopted. The efficiency of this range (better than 98%) means much reduced heat losses and thus an extremely compact format, making IP54 enclosures available as standard, along with the more common IP00 and IP21 enclosures. The low losses also means the range is designed for compact ‘zero side clearance’ mounting and front access only for installation and servicing.

RFI filtering up to Class A1 is standard, allowing output cable lengths up to 150m, making the range ideal for the industrial market, particularly the water industry, which is a substantial user of high power medium voltage drives.

The high voltage series covers the full Danfoss series including the VLT Automation Drive, VLT HVAC Drive and the VLT AQUA series, each differentiated for its own specific range of market sectors, covering industrial, HVAC and water industry applications.

The design has been optimised to facilitate efficient cooling and the IP00 offers an optional pre-engineered cooling duct which simplifies installation in Rittal TS8 series enclosures. IP21 and IP54 versions are floor standing and come supplied with a pedestal to simplify cable entry.

A wide range of options and hardware variants have been engineered into the design. Fusing and mains disconnect are available as an option, as is a 24volt external control supply. The design has been guided by active customer input to ensure ease of installation, serviceability and high up-time of these drives. The EMC optimised design of the enclosure makes for simple and cost effective connection of cable screens.
