Folding handles from Southco

A new family of folding handles introduced by Southco for networking, telecommunication, computer, electronics, industrial, and other enclosures offers a more complete solution for end users seeking to save space and streamline hardware procurement efforts and costs.

The Southco P9 Class of 90o Infinite Position Folding Handles provides an ergonomic handhold that folds down to a low profile of just 13.3 mm for the internal threaded version, and 7 mm for the external threaded version to provide greater clearances in crowded environments.

This saves more than an inch of space between the fully extended operating position and the folded storage position. Built-in friction in the pivoting handle prevents rattle, provides a quality feel, and maintains the handle in the desired position.

Easy-to-install mounting options include a choice of either interior threads or external threads that both fasten from the inside of the enclosure to maintain a clean look on the exterior of the door.

The externally threaded versions, available in M4 thread sizes, accommodate panel thicknesses up to 8.4 mm and are supplied with zinc-plated steel nuts and lockwashers. The interior threaded versions can accommodate a wider variety of panel thicknesses when fastened with user-supplied M4 machine screws that are 5 mm longer than the panel thickness.

Standard materials for these 6.4 mm diameter folding handles are anodized aluminium with a clear or black finish. Steel and stainless steel versions are also available.

Four standard lengths range from 40 mm to 128 mm. The external threaded version accommodates a maximum static load of 400 N, while the internal threaded version accommodates a maximum static load of 600 N.

The addition of this product line to the full range of Southco latch, fastener, captive screw, and pull hardware for electronic equipment and enclosures provides end users with a more comprehensive one-stop shopping solution.

The comprehensive product selection enables users to streamline ordering processes, reduce procurement costs, and ensure consistent technical support and service for global manufacturing operations
