VLT Refrigeration Drive FC 103 now smaller than ever

The refrigeration optimised frequency converters from Danfoss are available in the full power range from 1.1kW to 315kW in a variety of enclosures: IP20, IP21 and IP54.

The new space saving D frame version of the VLT Refrigeration Drive FC 103 is now available in the power range 110 - 315kW. These drives are up to 68 percent smaller than Danfoss' previous version of this frame size. The unit is designed for efficient motor control of refrigeration system compressors, condensers, evaporators, pumps and fans.

Innovative thermal management
The high efficiency of the drive - above 98 percent - is one of main reasons for the drive’s low energy consumption. Heat losses that need to be directed away from the internals of the drive are correspondingly low and this is handled by Danfoss’ innovative back channel cooling concept that directs up to 90 percent of the heat generated by the drive directly outside the switch room.

One of the main advantages of this approach is that additional cooling systems can either be smaller, or in some instances eliminated completely, to reduce project costs further.
