VLT DriveMotor shortlisted for technical innovation of the year

The VLT Drive Motor FCM 106 is a complete drive and motor package capable of driving both asynchronous and permanent magnet motors. Besides being offered as a combined package, the electronics can also be purchased on their own and fitted to the motor of the customer’s own choice. 

With the integrated pump features and EC+ controls, the VLT DriveMotor FCM 106 is a product dedicated to the pump industry. The new space saving alternative to industrial pump drives in the 0.55-22kW range will be launched this summer. 

The DriveMotor provides customers with a new level of flexibility, as the drive automatically sets the optimal parameters for any attached motor, providing stable, energy efficient operation. Furthermore, this is the first motor mounted sysyem that enables any pump manufacturer to control their motors with the same drive without without having to adapt it. It is thus the perfect solution for pump manufacturers, who often rely on custom made motors. 

The FCM 106 is pre-mounted to the pump or fan motor before delivery. This significantly reduces both installation costs and complexity, eliminating the need for cabinets and motor cables. Integrated cooling and an individually adjustable adaptor plate makes implementation very simple. The drive is UL Type 4X approved for outdoor installation and thus suitable for the North American market. 

IE4 efficiency
Danfoss’ new DriveMotor promises significantly improved performance over its predecessor, the VLT DriveMotor FCM 300; and complies with both IE3 and IE4 (IEC (CD) 60034-30 Ed.2) efficiency requirements. 

For those who prefer to choose their own motor, the inverter component; VLT DriveMotor FCP 106, can be ordered individually and fitted with an adaptor plate. Set-up is easy using the Danfoss VLT Motion Control Tool MCT10.
