Worlds smallest 100W AC/DC Switcher For Industrial And Medical applications

With competitor products one-third larger by volume, the ECM100single-output AC/DC switching power supply from XP Power is the world'smost compact unit of its type. Using innovative physical and electrical construction, it comes with full industrial, IT and medical approvals to make it suitable for industrial, medical and comms OEM applications.

A footprint of only 114.3mm x 63.5mm (4.5 x 2.5 ) and a height of 30.5mm (1.2 ), means that the power density of ECM100 is aclass-leading 7.4W/in3. Additionally, the unit features Class I and Class II approvals, EN61000-3-2,-3 compliance, and Level B performance for conducted emissions, so there is no compromise in specification.

Outputs are from +3.3V to +48VDC and the power supplies have safety approvals for any voltage within this range, including custom-specifiedoutputs. Input voltage is from 85-264 VAC (170-270 VDC) and efficiency is up to 87%.

The compact size of the ECM100 has been achieved by minimizingcomponent count and using just two heatsinks - half the number found in most alternative designs. In addition, the design of the flybackconverter combines continuous and discontinuous modes of operation toenable a much smaller transformer to be used.

The ECM100 has very lowearth leakage current: less than 100µA at 115VAC and less than 200µA at230VAC. Inrush current is 40A maximum at 230VAC with the inputprotected by 3.15A fuses in both line and neutral.

Input to outputisolation is 4000VAC.Outputs are adjustable by ±5% on 3.3V and 5V models and by ±10% onthose with higher output voltages. Line and load regulation are ±0.5%and ±1% respectively and there is no minimum load requirement.

The operating temperature range is 0 °C to +80 °C and the power supplieshave over-temperature, over-voltage, and overload protection built in.
