Beacons Are ATEX Approved For Hazardous Areas

For use in hazardous areas Switchtec is offering the Sirena ATEX approved luminous beacons. Also referred to as ŒEx-d¹ type beacons in the industry,the units provide a highly visible indication or warning of a process or safety condition in hazardous areas.

The UK has a large market for Ex-d products due to its large oil, gas andoffshore market. Customers are driving the demand for smaller, more efficient, and more compact Ex-d beacons, Sirena has designed the rangespecifically to meet these requirements.

The beacons will find favour with panel builders and control systemmanufacturers for use in oil and gas applications, offshore applications,harbour and marine applications, hazardous areas in industry, and indeed anywhere where such a visible indication is desirable.

Approved to ATEX level II 2GD EEx-de IIC, and with an IP66 level ofprotection, the beacons are available in blue, amber, red, green, yellow andclear. Bulb options are filament (continuous, rotating and flashing),halogen (rotating), xenon (flashing), and LED (continuous, rotating and flashing). Voltages of 12, 24, 48, 110, and 230/240V in AC or DC variantsare available.

As a Sirena product, the beacons have

 excellent technical characteristics including a copper-free aluminium alloy body, toughenedglass external dome, and a stainless steel INOX protective grid.

Five enclosure sizes are available covering heights of 110, 320, 413, 495,and 561mm. For durability the units are RAL 3020 polyester painted, and aresuitable for installation in zones 1, 2, 21 and 22 applications.
