The innovative PowerLogic power monitoring system from Merlin Gerin, a brandof Schneider Electric, has achieved the accolade of selection as BuildingServices Product of the Year at the Electrical Industry Awards 2005.
The award, which was won by Schneider Electric in the face of intensecompetition, recognises that PowerLogic provides users with a uniquelypowerful set of tools for collecting and evaluating data that can be used toachieve large reductions in energy and costs.

Other factors in the decision were the scope of the range,which includes power-monitoring devices to suit virtually every application,and the support services provided by Schneider Electric, which help users tomaximise energy savings.In addition to power monitoring devices, the PowerLogic range features Transparent Ready web-enabled Ethernet communications devices that are idealfor use in unattended applications.
These enable users to work with the PowerLogic system without the need for special software and training, sinceinformation from the system can be viewed using a standard web browser. For applications requiring powerful yet easy-to-use data analysisfacilities, PowerLogic System Manager software is available. Designedspecifically for power monitoring and control, this software collects circuit information, provides pre-engineered displays and converts data intoa form, which is immediately useful to building services engineers.
Schneider Electric PowerLogic e-Services complement the range's hardware andsoftware. Equipment on site collects data that is sent via a secureInternet link to a team of experienced Schneider Electric engineers.
The team then provides the customer with reports containing analysis,observations, conclusions and recommendations on maximising cost savings.Schneider Electric was also a finalist in two other categories, the Automation Project of the Year with its Unity PLC software and Power Productof the Year for its MODE fuse distribution board product.
