A snack food manufacturer has drastically reduced maintenance on one of its most arduous applications following the installation of Renold Syno lubrication free chain. The company, which manufactures burgers, sandwichfillings and various other snack foods, had to make adjustments to the chain on a regular basis due to elongation caused by premature wear.
Another problem wasbeing caused by lubricant dripping onto electricalswitches underneath the chain and causing damage. The switches cost £200 each and were having to be replaced every two to three months.
The equipment had to be frequently shut down either to adjust the chain or toreplace the switches, which is a lengthy maintenance procedure that resulted in costly downtime. Since replacing the previous chain with Renold Syno lubricationfree chain, seven months ago, no maintenance whatsoever has been required.
