Chain Cuts Downtime At Packaging Plant

A US packaging manufacturer has cut downtime on much ofits plant and machinery by switching to British made, Renold Synergy chain. The company manufactures corrugated boxes for the packaging industry and has to run chain on some of its machinery unlubricated as it comes into direct contact with product that would easily mark.

Chain had tobe replaced every two months, which meant regular periodsof costly downtime as machinery had to be shut down sothat the chain could be replaced. Renold Synergy wasspecified in an attempt to tackle the problem and it outperformed every other brand the company had tried.

Phil Mueller, maintenance supervisor at Plymouth Packagingsaid: 'We are now getting from seven to eight months of total life from Synergy chain, eliminating as many as three downtimes, which is of great cost savings to us. For these reasons we have standardized on Renold Synergy andwill use it as a solution on all our machinery.'
