Hoist And Elevator Drive Safety - Economic Fail Safe Brake Retrofit

Mayr Antriebstechnik have developed the ROBA - stop - silenzio Electromagnetic Fail Safe Brake to meet the EN81-1 specific requirements where a rising cabin must be braked in the event of an overspeed occurring.

Rail and rope clamping devices only become active when an overspeed of 115% of the nominal speed is reached , which under certain conditions could result in passenger injury.

The ROBA - stop - silenzio holds the actual drive which is not the case with rail or rope clamping devices and should a drive component fail, the additional brake will hold the cabin safely in its position.

The ROBA - stop - silenzio has been specifically developed for retrofit to hoist applications and is a single circuit, spring applied , DC current opened unit with noise damping , which even after many millions of switchings remains below 60dB(A).

All ROBA - stop Safety Brakes operate as Fail Safe Brakes which ensures thatin the current supply free condition the brake remains closed. The compact unit ensures easy fitting and assembly , with the pre-set air gap requiring no further adjustment thus reducing any assembly or service problems.

The ROBA - stop - silenzio is generally maintenance free with a long working life , only the low wear friction discs requiring inspection .
