The success of the Lenze smd range of inverters has allowed extra functionality to be added at no extra cost. The smd inverters cover 0.25 to 2.2kW with 1-phase input and up to 22kW with 3-phase supply.
They are notable for the plug-in EPM memory chip, which allows instant setting of parameters, even without power. Now extra functions for PI control and ramps have been added with improved analog input at no extra cost.
The PI function compares an analog signal to a set point such as might be found in pump and fan applications. This gives low cost control for levels, pressure or temperature.
There is now an option for S shaped ramps to achieve gentle starts and stops, ideal for conveyors with discrete products. A full second set of ramps can be held in the inverter memory and selected if products change.
The smd analog input has been increased from 8 to 10 bit. This means faster response to signal changes, smoother acceleration and improved speed holding accuracy.
In another new option, CANbus serial communications are possible. With these new no-cost functions, easy programming, extremely compact dimensions and attractive pricing, the smd range is set to become even more popular in 2006.
