Power Supply Manufacturer Increase Solar Range

Custom power converter manufacturer, Ferrus Power Ltd of Peterborough, have increased their 'Solar' range of AC-DC power converters with the addition of the new FP600 ( 600W ) and FP800 ( 800W ) power converters.

Ferrus Power's Technical Sales Manager, Marc Jones, reports ' The recent introduction of the new Solar range has come about due to an increase in demand for UK manufactured product from British OEM's who require a more flexible approach to their system requirements - particularly in the medium power market sector.

OEM's within the UK have been pressurised in recent years, primarily due to market forces, to reduce their power supply expenditure by integrating low cost far eastern power supply products within their equipment.

The manufacturers of these products are invariably from Taiwan and China.Since the beginning of 2005 however we have seen a marked turnaround within the British manufacturing sector with more and more customers coming back for UK products.

The key issues being reported to us include poor delivery performance, inadequate levels of communication when problems arise (even when sourcing through UK distribution) and ever increasing transportation costs. In addition customers are becoming increasingly aware of the hidden costs involved when importing direct from overseas due to import duties.

'The 'Solar' range differs from conventional off the shelf ' modular output ' power supplies currently on the market in that the output stage of each product is specifically tailored to customer requirement. This high level of flexibility means that unusual output voltages can be precisely catered for as well as any other system requirements such as peak power or bespoke signalling and control features.

All power supplies incorporate active Power Factor Correction to meet the harmonic distortion requirements of EN61000-3-2 class D with universal mains input of 90 - 264Vac for international applications.

The products are available in either chassis mount or 19 rack format ( <1U / 4U ). Medical versions are also currently in development.
