Aseptic IP65 motors succeed where others failed
Danfoss Bauer aseptic IP65 geared motors are currently achieving a high
degree of success at salad grower/packer, Vitacress's plant at St Mary
Bourne plant in Hampshire where they are used as conveyor drives on wash
and packaging lines. These lines are subject to vigorous cleaning
regimes, including high-pressure wash-down and the application of
aggressive cleaning chemicals.
The standard IP55 geared motor units that were previously installed,
suffered frequent failures as a result of water ingress, despite their
stainless steel covers. Moreover, the nooks and crannies formed by their
cooling fins and fans were compromising proper sanitation.
The IP65 enclosure of Bauer's aseptic units features bevelled edges to
facilitate thorough cleaning and free draining of cleaning residues The
housings are painted with a Coro2 alkali and acid resistant finish, which
provides an effective barrier against the aggressive cleaning agents
employed at the plant.
