LVDT signal conditioner for fixed and mobile applications

Macro Sensors' new LVC-2500 signal conditioner supports any standard LVDT, RVDT or VRT half-bridge sensor in 24V fixed control (PLC) or 12V mobile (vehicular) applications. The device offers three analogue outputs: bipolar 0 - +/-10Vdc, unipolar 24Vdc or 4-20mA in a three-wire, common ground system in which the power ground is connected to the output signal ground.
An internal jumper allows selection of 3, 5 or 10kHz excitation at 3V rms. In multiple LVDT installations, the LVC-2500 modules can be connected in a master/slave configuration with the excitation oscillation synchronised. This avoids the effects of spurious beat frequency signals, cross-talk and inter-modulation effects.
This DIN-rail mounting signal conditioner offers zero and span controls, accessible from the front, that permit output offset adjustment from -100% to +100% of full-scale output. Coarse gain jumpers also allow the unit to operate over an LVDT full-scale output signal range of greater than 100:1.
Thanks to the inclusion of internal mathematical functions, two LVC-2500 modules can be connected together, along with a pair of LVDT gauging probes, to measure differential dimensions, thickness or average height of products in quality control applications.
