Flexible couplings for marine applications

Renold Hi-Tec Couplings has introduced a range of flexible couplings and engine mountings for marine vessels that make use of high-speed, flex-mounted diesel engines. The new VF couplings provide the low radial and axial stiffness required when connecting these engines to their gearboxes, which are normally rigidly secured to the hull of the vessel. The flexible engine mounts, meanwhile, isolate engine induced vibration from the hull, the two components (mounts and couplings) working in harmony to achieve the desired level of vibration damping for vessels in the 5,000 to 18,000 torque range.
