The ABB general machinery drive is programmed with four different speeds, so it can optimise the speed of the conveyor to match the size and throughput of different products more accurately. The improved speed and accuracy that the drive brings to the line has led to a 10 percent reduction in tin release agent.
Christien Jones, director and projects engineer, says: “We are making energy savings of around 27 percent, as well as savings in release agent, ingredients and cleaning.” In total, savings in production costs amount to £20,000 a year.
