PIR sensors take to the great outdoors

Finder has extended its Series 18 PIR sensors to include a new model that operates outdoors. The IP54 protected model 18.11 detects body heat to control lighting in a range of applications, including energy saving measures and security. In common with its indoor counterpart, the 18.01, the 18.11 sensor offers an output contact rated at10A (20A peak) -sufficient to switch resistive load lighting circuits up to 1kW or compensated fluorescent lighting loads of up to 350W. Features include 110o detection zones in both horizontal and vertical planes, and a sensing range f up to 8m. The units inhibit switching in conditions of high ambient light and offer an adjustable 'on time' from 10 to 180 seconds.
