Ferrous and non-ferrous inductive sensors for tough machining applications

Balluff's latest SteelFace inductive sensor is milled from a single piece of stainless steel, its 1mm thick impact and abrasion resistant face being capable of withstanding 500psi dynamic pressure and 1,200psi wash-down pressures. The SteelFace ferrous-only sensor has typical applications in aluminium machining, detecting tool pallets, cutting tools and fixtures while ignoring nonferrous aluminium chips that are generated during the machining operation. Alternatively, a nonferrous-only variant detects nonferrous and ignores ferrous objects, so when detecting the presence of objects such as aluminium engine blocks, the sensor ignores the ferrous pallets or fixtures that hold them.
SteelFace is available in 8, 12, 18, and 30mm sizes.
