It's a sensor technology focus for Balluff

Sensor specialist Balluff will be demonstrating its strengths in the areas of inductive, photoelectric, capacitive and magnetic field sensors, as well as multiple limit switches, linear position transducers and RFID systems. The BIS-S RFID system features data carriers that can store 8,000 or 16,000 bytes and heads that can read/write large blocks of information at 2,000 bytes/s - seven times faster than the company's previous system. These data carriers employ new technology called ferro-electric RAM, which avoids the need for batteries and also permits unlimited read and write cycles.

Balluff's Micropulse magnetostrictive linear position transducers are available in two styles: 'profile' - a wear-free alternative to other types of linear feedback device - and 'advanced tube', which offers a superior alternative to low-cost linear feedback devices such as linear potentiometers.

Also on show will be Balluff's award winning BIL magneto-inductive displacement sensor. Offering a 3mm switching distance in a package weighing just 0.7g, this tiny device, with integral function indicator and stainless steel housing, is particularly useful for applications with restricted mounting spaces, or small parts detection in high speed robotics applications.
