An economic alternative to traditional metering pumps

Wanner International has launched a range of metering pumps based on its innovative Hydra-Cell seal-less, hydraulically balanced diaphragm pump product. Hydra-Cell pump heads can have just one, or as many as five sequentially actuated diaphragms. The multi-diaphragm designs produce very low pulsation levels and thus avoid the need for external pulsation dampers. Their design also avoids the need for dynamic seals, which means the pump can handle abrasive, corrosive, viscous and non-lubricating fluids and slurries without risk of seal damage.
In the event of a vacuum being drawn within the pump chamber due to a partial or complete inlet blockage, a novel mechanical control system called Kel-Cell limits the diaphragm stroke and prevents diaphragm rupture. This dry-running capability affords environmental and product protection, not to mention peace of mind for the process operator!
While Hydra-Cell industrial pumps have been used for metering and dosing applications for a number of years, the decision to launch the metering pump range was largely influenced by the results of a series of tests conducted over a period of two years under controlled installation conditions. These showed that the pump performance consistently met or exceeded API 675 standards for linearity, repeatability and steady state accuracy.
The metering range features gear reducers and inverter speed control, a choice of metallic and non-metallic pump heads, and duplex arrangements whereby two pumps of similar or dissimilar sizes are driven by the same inverter/motor combination. With a maximum efficiency in the region of 85%, Hydra-Cell metering pumps offer flow rates from 0 to 7,950 litre/h and pressures to 170bar. Compared to other metering pumps rated at these pressures and flows, Hydra-Cell offers an extremely compact alternative.
