A Low Cost Alternative To Ballscrew Assemblies

Plastic anti-backlash nut assemblies developed by the California based company, BSA, are now available in the UK from Abssac. The XC series features a novel design called ActiveCAM, which automatically compensates for wear and delivers exceptional repeatability throughout the life of the nut. The design replaces older spring-loaded nut technologies to provide zero backlash and consistent minimal drag torque up to the rated load capacity of the nut. ActiveCAM plastic nut assemblies can be dropped into any application requiring precise motion of loads up to 114kg, yet it costs less than half the price of a traditional ballscrew, according to Abssac. Furthermore, the assemblies require no lubrication, thanks to the nature of the compounds that make up the plastic components.
