Saft has increased the nominal capacity of its LS 14500 lithium-thionyl chloride cylindrical AA-size cells to 2.45Ah. As the life of a primary cell is directly linked to its capacity, this increase from a previous 2.25Ah offers a useful 9% extra battery life. Nominal voltage is 3.6V and continuous current rating is 130mA (280mA pulse). LS 14500 cells lose just 1% of their charge following a year of storage at 20oC.
