Positioning the electro-pneumatic way

During the last few years most engineers would agree that machines have generally become smaller, achieving better reliability with improved accuracy. Responding to industry requests for greater precision in both linear and rotary actuator control, the research and development team at SMC Pneumatics has come up with what it believes is a neat solution to the problem - the IP8000/8100 electro-pneumatic positioner.

Suitable for use in non-explosive atmospheres, with either single or double acting actuators, this electronically controlled positioner is also available with a current output option, enabling remote actuator position detection. An ATEX certified version is also available for use in hazardous areas.

With the same mounting dimensions as SMC´s conventional IP6000 range, the new positioner has a much greater gauge size and features IP65 environmental protection, making it a fully interchangeable option for existing IP6000 installations. Available in either lever (IP8000) or rotary type (IP8100) feedback models, these positioners require a standard 4-20mA control signal input and an air supply of between 0.14 to 0.7MPa.
