Safe rotary encoders are certified SIL3 and PLe
TR Electronics' new double rotary encoder, featuring hollow shaft and multi-turn detection, is EN 61508 compliant and certified to SIL3 and PLe requirements. The absolute rotary encoder achieves this level thanks to a combination of optical and magnetic detection techniques. The device is fully programmable and does not require battery back-up in the event of power down. Resolution is 8,192 pulses/revolution.
