ABB's FlashDrop technology, which allows users to select and set parameters and copy configurations between drives without even having to power them up, is now also available on the ACS150 component drive series, in addition to the recently launched ACS350 general machinery drive range.
To transfer parameters between the FlashDrop unit and a drive, the user simply plugs the programming tip into a socket in the drive's front panel. This can be done without removing the drive from its packaging, as the unit does not need to be powered up during the parameter download process.
FlashDrop can also be used with a PC running ABB's DrivePM software, allowing communication between the PC and FlashDrop unit via a serial port. Parameter sets can then be created using either the PC or the FlashDrop unit.
