Transport, environment and energy are priorities for new IMechE president

Professor Roderick Smith has been appointed the 126th President of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. Previously head of mechanical engineering at Imperial College and Sheffield University, and Research Professor of Advanced Railway Engineering at Imperial College, Professor Smith hopes that in his year as president the Institution can push forward on helping to solve some of the big challenges facing the UK and the rest of the world in the areas of transport, environment and energy.
