The Allen-Bradley MicroLogix 1500 micro PLC from Rockwell Automation,
which is suitable for applications up to 156 I/O points, now features
motion control capabilities. When combined with the Allen-Bradley Ultra
100 range of servo drives, the new product provides low cost motion
control for simple point-to-point positioning applications such as
pick-and-place, labelling and assembly machines.
The motion function in included in the basic MicroLogix 1500 programming
environment; standard motion instructions are simply inserted within the
controller's ladder diagram. There is only one software tool to learn and
one program to maintain for both motion and sequential control. A
MicroLogix 1500 and two axes of motion control are now available for less
than £450.
