Gearboxes for food processing equipment

A new line of two-stage helical bevel gear units were showcased on NORD Drivesystems' stand at Hanover this week. The new units are suitable for washdown, and all external surfaces feature wide radii with no indentations or dead spaces. As the installation measurements remain essentially the same, users can easily exchange old gear units for the new models. Additionally, the new models have greater power reserves than their predecessors and therefore allow smaller sizes to be used.

The new series, comprising models in five different sizes and with torque ranging from 90 to 660Nm, is due on the market at the end of 2011. All units feature a high-strength die-cast aluminum gearcase which is designed according to the proven UNICASE principle. Since the gearcase requires neither an inspection cover nor a screw-on input cover, the units are especially small and lightweight. The new gearboxes provide maximum operational safety, high output torques, high resistance to axial and radial loads and low-noise operation. They require minimal maintenance and have a long service life.
