New from Westermo is the industrial Ethernet FX/TX media converter, MCW-211, which is capable of reporting and passing forward linking faults. The DIN rail mounted unit converts data between copper-based Ethernet 10/100 Base-TX and fibre optic based 100 Base-FX. The FX side of the converter supports Far-End-Fault indication and Link Fault Forwarding, so any link fault found on either side of the converter is forwarded to the other. Auto-negotiation of speed and duplex, auto-crossover and auto-polarity enable easy set up, and it is also possible to set the speed, duplex and flow control via DIP switches.
