Coupler Links Two Or More Profibus Networks

The FD-10 Profibus coupler from Westermo Data Communications is a universal Profibus DP slave unit that is able to transfer data between networks using serial links; no special drivers or PLC cards are required. The coupler features RS232 and RS485 outputs and the same serial protocol is used in both cases. It is supplied in three variants: The FD-10P is a point-to-point link via direct cabling or leased telecoms line, dial-up modem or wireless system and is capable of connecting two widely separated Profibus DP networks. The FD-10A controls data transfer between two or more independent Profibus networks on a single addressable cable, multi-drop modem system or wireless network. This requires one FD-10A to act as the serial master and two or more connected FD-10Ps to control data exchange. For more advanced networking, the FD-10N can be used in conjunction with multi-dropping modems or wireless network. Network communication is controlled by Profibus masters within the network, so additional system programming is required. The FD-10 family is fully compatible with Profibus DP standard I/O data and can facilitate simple and transparent data transfer of up to 65 DP I/O words per cycle. It is configured using Westermo's Windows based FD-Tool software. Click Here for more info using our Online Enquiry Service with number 211
