Luxury Trim Is Applied With The Help Of Hot-Air Tools

Rolls-Royce is using Leister hot-air tools from Welwyn Tool to produce the leather-covered interior components and trim for its new Phantom motor car. The Leister Electron hot air blowers and smaller Leister Triac 'S' hot-air hand tools apply hot air at around 650oC to activate a water-based adhesive when it is touch-dry on both the leather covering and carrier surfaces. Large areas are covered using the Electron, while more intricate work in smaller areas is undertaken using the Triac. Both tools are also used in the finishing process where gentle heat is required to shrink any light wrinkles in the leather and give it a rich lustre and 'feel'.
