Watson-Marlow Bredel will be showing off its peristaltic pumps, which
offer a number of advantages over traditional positive displacement pump
designs. the biggest being that the pumped media remains contained within
the pump tube from source to delivery. Apart from environmental
considerations, there are obvious benefits for analytical, hygienic and
sterile applications.
There are no glands, seals or valves to leak, nor is there any risk to
the pumped media from the ingress of air or other contaminants. The pump
functions as its own check valve, so avoiding the need for further
expense or complication. Peristaltic pumps can also run dry and are
self-priming to 9.5m. Other positive features include low-shear and
metering capability to an accuracy of +/-0.5%.
