A new modular tension brake from Wichita, the Mondevo, is suitable for a
wide range of web process unwind tension requirements and is available in
five disc diameters of 250, 300,350, 400 and 450mm. The finned aluminium
clamping module is common to all disc diameters and houses two pairs of
newly developed rolling diaphragm actuators. The smallest brake, the
Modevo 250, is available in two-, four- and six-actuator variants, with
torque capacity up to 1,080Nm. The largest (450) brake has two to 14
actuators and offers a maximum torque of 5,100Nm. There is a choice of
three friction coefficient pads: low (0.2), standard (0.35) and high
(0.4). These pads can be mixed within a single brake to match the
machine’s requirements precisely.
