Tension brake sizes keep pace with machine demands
As converting machines get smaller, so to do the components that make
them up. New from Warner Electric is an addition to the Mistral unwind
tension brake range, the 150, which has 225mm outside diameter and 135mm
depth, yet this single plate unit provides a maximum torque output of
150Nm. The 150 features four pneumatic actuators, which achieve the
maximum output at 5.5bar - the torque output being proportional to air
pressure. The unit will dissipate 0.6kW without forced cooling, but the
addition of a fan raises this to 1.3kW. The unit can be upgraded to
include two plates, which doubles the braking torque to 300Nm for just a
small increase in depth.
