Vision inspection that won't make a dent in your wallet
If you are seeking a low level vision system that offers edge detection,
presence sensing and integrity inspection, without the complexity of more
expensive software driven systems, then Turck Banner's new PresencePlus
camera based, pixel-counting sensor is well worth a look. The system
captures a 256-level grey-scale image of a defined area, converts this to
white and black pixels on a 512 x 384 CMOS pixel array, and makes a
'pass' or 'fail' judgement by comparing the pixels in the image with a
pre-programmed reference count. The controller features a 'Quick-start'
set-up routine; you just point the camera at a 'good' product and
Quick-start sets the judgement criteria based on five image captures with
pass or fail limits 15% above and below the reference pixel count.
Threshold values can also be programmed either manually or automatically
using one of the sensor's two 'Teach' modes. Advanced configuration
includes user setting of grey-scale threshold, auto-exposure time and
light source 'off' or 'strobed'.
