Significant Development For The Low-Cost Vision Market

Determined to make its mark on the low-cost vision market, with affordable, user-friendly machine vision products, Turck Banner has introduced the newest member of its PresencePLUS vision sensor family, the P4 GEO. This system easily inspects for correct features regardless of product orientation or position in the sensor's field of view, eliminating the need for expensive and complex mechanical fixing. It is claimed to be the lowest cost sensor of its kind available, delivering a full 360° inspection at a fraction of the cost of competitive products. Moreover, its intuitive interface allows anyone with even basic PC abilities to set up an inspection with ease. The P4 GEO offers several features that make it particularly easy to deploy on the factory floor. A remote teach feature allows the sensor to learn new features for its inspection task without having to connect to a PC or shut down the line. The built-in live video image output allows users to view the sensor's inspections in real time and also to view failed inspection images without the use of a PC. The P4 GEO vision sensor can interface to machines and factory networks via its built-in Ethernet connection, RS-232 or discrete input/outputs. While the P4 GEO performs like a vision sensor, Turck Banner says it can be installed as easily as a standard photoelectric sensor, opening up the application of vision sensing for machines and manufacturing lines where it was previously thought impractical. The P4 GEO can inspect up to 6,000 parts per minute (typically averaging 1,500 parts per minute), thanks to its low-resolution CMOS imager and non-dependence on special fixtures, which might otherwise impede production flow.
