Tsubaki's new X-Lambda lube-free chain is claimed to provide at least ten
times the working life of conventionally sealed O-ring chains without any
significant loss of transmission efficiency. This is achieved by the
introduction of an oil-impregnated felt seal between the inner and outer
link plates, plus the use of sintered, oil-impregnated bushings, coated
pins and extra durable rollers. The felt seal also protects against dust
penetration which, when combined with the chain's broad operating
temperature range (-10°C to +150°C), makes X-Lambda suitable for use in a
wide range of industries.
