Small footprint controller packs up to five axes
Trio Motion Technology's new MC206 DIN-rail mounting motion controller
measures just 107x182x53mm, yet it comes with four axes of servo or
stepper control, plus an fifth axis via an optional daughter board. The
unit is configured using a simple 'feature-enable' code to unlock the
required axes. the necessary circuitry being already installed and ready
for use. To provide additional flexibility, any axis not used in the
hardware can be configured as a virtual axis for applications such as
camming and on-the-fly registration adjustment.
The motion controller has 16 digital I/O as standard, expandable via
Trio's CANbus digital and analogue accessory modules. Communications
facilities include two RS232 serial ports, an RS485 port, a TTL serial
port (which can be adapted for fibre optic networking), USB and a CAN
channel. Programming is accomplished using the company's multi-tasking
Basic language, in conjunction with the MotionPerfect software
development package, which can be downloaded from the web site. five
application programs can be run concurrently with pre-emptive
multi-tasking.
