Iron Core Linear Motor Range Has Significantly Reduced Cogging Forces

A new range of iron-cored linear motors from Texas based Trilogy Systems, featuring a lamination design that significantly reduces cogging, is now available in the UK from Time & Precision. The 'Ripped' series comprises two models with cross-sections of 70mm2 and 100mm2, in three lengths offering peak forces from 2,100 to 4,900N. The units are a cost-effective replacement for more expensive 'cog-free' linear brushless servos. With the new Trilogy design, cogging due to the internal lamination teeth is virtually eliminated, and cogging due to the leading/trailing edge is significantly reduced. This results in a high performance linear motor system that can compete in price with traditional rotary servomotor/ball screw solutions.
