Non-Contact Sensor Provides Torque, Speed, Power And Angle Output

The new RWT310 (analogue) and 320 (analogue and digital) series of Torqsense non-contact rotary torque sensors from Sensor Technology feature internal electronics that provide a combination of outputs, including torque, speed, power and angle. Based on surface acoustic wave (SAW) technology and wireless RF coupling for power and signal, this is Sensor Technology's first SAW based transmitter to include the electronics with the body of the unit. The development opens up the route to accurate torque measurement for a much wider group of users, from product testing to industrial monitoring and control, and moves the technology on from a virtual hand-built operation to serial manufacture. Initially, the new Torqsense products will be available with full-scale deflection of 1 to 20Nm, with other sizes to follow up to 10,000Nm.
