Automated Guided Vehicles Are Powered By Saft

The fast charging capability of Saft's STH nickel cadmium batteries was a key factor in BA Systemes' choice of these units for a fleet of five automated guided vehicles (AGVs) built by the company for Le Monde's new printing press near Paris. When an AGV is not moving reels of paper around the plant it docks automatically to receive a fast charge, making it ready for operation around the clock. Each AGV is equipped with a 48V battery system, comprising STH 1200 cells, which are arranged to provide a capacity of 120Ah. The new power pack replaces the lead-acid battery systems traditionally used in this type of vehicle, which normally require a changeover every eight hours. The depth of discharge of the STH system is typically only 5%, which extends battery life to between five and seven years. Click Here for more info using our Online Enquiry Service with number 264
