'Solution' chains cut maintenance and downtime

Renolds range of solution chain products is helping to reduce maintenance and cut downtime on a wide range of industrial applications. The range is made up of several specialist chain products, each designed specifically to overcome common problems faced by users of industrial chain.

Renold Synergy, for instance, was designed to provide longer wear life on arduous applications that would require frequent chain replacements if only standard roller chain was used. Synergy lasts up to six times longer than the next best product available and it has proved itself countless times on applications all around the world. One US manufacturer even described Synergy’s performance as, ‘astonishing.’

Longer lasting chain not only reduces chain replacement costs, it also cuts downtime. This is particularly important on production lines that run 24 hours a day because production time lost to maintenance cannot be made up. Some manufacturers cost downtime at over £50K an hour and the savings from longer lasting chain can be seen within a matter of months or even weeks.

On applications where lubrication is difficult or undesirable there is a self lubricating chain called Syno. At the heart of Syno is a specially designed sintered bush that contains all the lubricant. The chain almost thinks for itself and only makes lubricant available when the chain is operational. More lubricant is supplied at higher speeds, but when the chain is at rest all the lubricant returns to the sintered bush.

Stainless-steel chain is available for applications where corrosion might be a problem, such as in the food industry, and Klik-Top polymer block chain features an innovative design for conveying applications. Unlike other, similar, products Klik-Top chain has no sharp edges coming into contact with conveyed goods and the polymer blocks can be clicked on and off individually without the need to remove the whole chain from the application.

The Solutions range also includes Sovereign chain for abrasive applications where there are significant amounts of dust and debris that would cause a standard specification chain to wear rapidly. And finally there is Renold's Hydro-Service chain, which has been treated with a series of coatings to protect against corrosion.

So effective is the Hydro-Service anticorrosion treatment that chain treated with it will resist corrosion up to 30 times longer than a standard carbon steel chain, but with the same working load capabilities as standard steel.
