Jawflex zero backlash jaw couplings from Ruland Manufacturing are
three-piece components comprising two hubs and an elastomer element - the
spider - which is offered in several hardness levels, according to the
level of torsional stiffness or shock protection required. The spiders
are press-fit on the curved jaw profile, which ensures that the assembly
is backlash free.
Should the spider ever fail, the jaws on the hubs provide direct power
transmission, allowing the application to come safely to rest. Couplings
are available in seven outside diameters from 15mm to 57.2mm. Both
imperial and metric bore sizes are available, from 1/8in (3mm) to 1 1/8in
(30mm).
