Devicenet Module Extends Power Of Motor Overload Relay

The cost of deploying real-time remote monitoring and control of motors has hitherto been an expensive business. But, with the launch of a new DeviceNet module for the Allen-Bradley E1 Plus electronic overload relay, Rockwell Automation believes it has smashed the price barrier for intelligent motor protection, making sophisticated remote motor management a much more affordable option. The E1 Plus is a compact, self-powered electronic overload relay that replaces less sophisticated overload relays in a wide range of industrial applications at no cost penalty. The new DeviceNet module mounts directly onto the E1 Plus, adding just 18mm to the overall width. All control circuit connections are made via the E1 Plus terminals, simplifying wiring and making installation quick and easy.Parameters like motor current and percentage of thermal capacity can be continually monitored over a network and displayed on a PC or HMI, as can information such as device status, trip/warning identification and trip history. DeviceNet also allows network access to the E1 Plus's advanced features such as jam protection, and both over- and under-load warnings.
