Rockwell sizes 'Logix' controller for machine builders
The Allen-Bradley CompactLogix programmable controller, from Rockwell
Automation, is a cut-down version of the company's existing Logix control
platform aimed at machine builders who have limited I/O count and
communications requirements. The new product offers connection to DH-485
and DeviceNet networks, for a maximum of 32 and 64 devices respectively,
an additional Ethernet/IP interface providing connection for programming
and data acquisition.
Two controllers are currently available in the CompactLogix series, the
L20, which supports eight I/O modules for up to 128 local I/O points, and
the L30, which supports 16 I/O modules for up to 256 local I/O points.
The system is programmed using Rockwell software' RSLogix 5000, which is
common across all levels of the Logix platform.
