A Perfect Bit Of Timing

Enclosure manufacturer, Rittal is also celebrating a twentieth anniversary this year and, as it happens, this occasion coincides with the first launch in 15 years of a major new enclosure system, the TS8 There Twenty years ago, Rittal established a subsidiary company in the UK. Initially located in a small warehouse in Sheffield, the company has enjoyed excellent growth over these twenty years and now has six UK based sales and distribution centres strategically located in Birmingham, Livingston, London, Manchester, Southampton and a head office in Rotherham. A manufacturing facility in Plymouth, Rittal CSM, has also grown substantially and now manufactures for the worldwide Rittall group. More recently, the company acquired Weichers & Partners, developer of the EPlan CAD package. For around 15 of these years the PS4000 enclosure system (which Rittal dubs the 'perfect panel' system) has been one of the mainstays of its business, and with around four million units sold, this is probably the most widely used enclosure system in the world. In the meantime, of course, it has undergone continuous refinement but, in the words of Herborn chief executive Norbert Muller, For a popular product to evolve successfully into something new, correct timing is crucial . Hence the arrival of a completely new enclosure system, the TS8. In addition to the conventional areas, ranging from traffic systems to shipbuilding, mechanical engineering and the automotive industry, the TS8 has applications in scientific laboratories, power distribution and extraction, as well as networking and telecommunications. With the right accessories, this enclosure system can be transformed to satisfy any specification in next to no time, Rittal says. Care has also been taken to ensure downward compatibility with the PS4000 panel system. Existing installations are easily extended with new enclosures and existing installation material can also be used in new TS8 generation equipment. Happy Twentieth Birthday, Rittal!
